The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association representing more than 235,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing and other aspects of residential and light commercial construction.
NAHB’s mission is to enhance the climate for the housing and the building industries. Chief among NAHB’s goals is providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing. Known as “the voice of the housing industry,” NAHB helps promote policies that will keep housing a national priority.
NAHB is affiliated with more than 800 state and local home builders associations around the country. NAHB’s Annual Convention and Exposition, known as the International Builders’ Show, is one of the largest building project showcases in the country, attracting more than 100,000 attendees each year. The 2008 show was held in Orlando, Florida, February 13-16. And, a bit closer to home, the 2009 show will be in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 20-23.
NAHB’s affiliates include the NAHB National Research Center, which develops, tests and evaluates new materials, methods, standards and equipment to improve the technology and the affordability of America’s housing; along with the Home Builders Institute, NAHB’s workforce development arm, develops and administers a wide range of educational and job training programs.
Founded in 1942, NAHB’s professional staff of more than 380 professionals analyze policy issues, take the industry’s story public and monitor and work toward improving, educating, and training its members.
